Enter your tank size and how many people use the system. You get an estimate of how often to pump and when your next pump-out is due, and you can ask for an email reminder.
How the estimate works
Solids (sludge and scum) build up in the tank until they take up about 30% of its volume, when it should be pumped. Penn State Extension gives the example of a 1,000-gallon tank with 300 gallons of storage for solids: about 5 years for one adult and about 1.5 years for a family of four (Penn State Extension). This calculator uses that rate. Garbage disposals, heavy laundry and big gatherings fill a tank faster, so treat the result as a starting point. Your contractor can set a better schedule after measuring the sludge at a pump-out.

Common questions
Is pumping every 3 years always right?
No. It depends on tank size and how many people use the system. A small household on a large tank can go longer; a busy house or rental needs it more often.
Will you share my email?
No. It is used only to send the pump-out reminder you asked for.
